Giving

Tithe literally means a tenth. Tithing is the practice of giving a tenth of one's income or possessions to support God's work, but it isn't just about building the Kingdom. It's also a powerful way to cultivate gratitude in our hearts and experience contentment with what we've received from God.

Store up Treasure in Heaven

Tithing helps us to store up treasures in Heaven, where they will not be destroyed or stolen. Jesus said, “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21)

Trust God with our Money and Lives

Tithing teaches us to trust God with our money and our lives. When we give God the first and best of what we have, we acknowledge that He is the source of everything we have and that He will provide for our needs. The Bible says, “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.” (Proverbs 3:9-10)

Cultivate a Generous and Joyful Spirit

Tithing cultivates a generous and joyful spirit in us. When we give cheerfully and willingly to God, we experience the joy of giving and the blessing of being a blessing to others. The Bible says, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.” (2 Corinthians 9:7-8)
